I love organizing! I am a knitter and crocheter and I use ziploc bags to organize my yarn into projects with their patterns. This way everything is neatly together and it keeps off dust and keeps out moths. It is a win, win, win! :)
ReplyDeleteI use Ziploc bags for everything! I recently bought apothecary jars and I have been using the Ziploc bags to store my seasonal fillers.
ReplyDeleteOh, I wanna come to your party!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI use Ziplocs to hold all kinds of things, too, just like Jules...my fillers for my jars/containers, lots used for lunches and storing individual packs of things. I don't buy them already prepackaged in serving sizes!
I'd love to enter.
Suzanne
I'm now a follower of your blog, too! Love money saving tips! Thanks!

One thing I do for staying organized at vacation time is to keep a list saved on my computer of all the things our family typically needs when we go away. Then I just add things to the list depending on the different types of places we go. Packing goes much more smoothly this way.
ReplyDeleteI use Ziplocs for tons of things. My kids toys are organized into either bins or Ziploc bags. I always look for toys that are self-contained, but in the absence of that, I Ziploc them. My littlest has a collection of very. tiny. Disney princesses with even. tinier. shoes. She got them for Christmas and I am happy to report that, a month after Christmas, thanks to the Ziplocs, we still have three matching sets of shoes! Not bad for an almost three year old!
ReplyDeleteAnd if this is Heather's post....if I don't win, can I come to your party??!! (It's Marianne, and I apparently have no shame when it comes to free stuff.)
My best organizing tip is to only handle anything you bring into the house once. This means when you get the mail, go through it, pay bills, file and throw away everything. Don't leave it for later. When you go shopping, put everything away. It keeps clutter from piling up.
ReplyDeleteTake care of things right away so they don't get out of control :)

what a fun party! my best tip to be organized is to minimize the "junk." when we get something new, something old has to go!

ReplyDeleteMy best organizing tip is to try not to let clutter gather. Instead of piling things on the kitchen counter (mail, coupons, school papers, etc), put things in their place. Cut coupons right away and file, recycle junk mail and put bills to be paid (with date due written on envelope) in a special place, and go through school work...recyle what you don't need and put that special artwork in a folder.

ReplyDeleteWow, what a neat giveaway!!!! I use plastic bins to seperate all of my 20 month olds toys (cars in one, legos in one, markers in one, crayons and so on) and this really helps with the mess he loves to make! Thanks.

I take ziplocs to the beach. Then I can pick up interesting shells and stones and not get sand all over everything I have!

I label and label, and label.
ReplyDeleteI just recently started using empty half gallon milk jugs for my dried foods. I always spill/waste rice when I make my favorite lunch (rice with steamed veggies) so this way I can pour from a jug and keep it under control better. If it's something I don't use quite as often like black beans, then I cut the soaking and cooking directions off of the bag and tape them to the jug. I only have to do this once because it's already labeled when I run out and refill it with another bag.
ReplyDeleteMy best tip for organizing is Throw stuff away! Go through the mail immediately and toss the junk, go through your closets every season and get rid of stuff you don't wear.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite organizing tip is to purchase an accordian file. I use different ones for different reasons such as bills, paperwork and pictures. It keeps my desk clutter free.

ReplyDeleteWow great package! I also applied for this party, but wasn't selected. I love ziploc containers for food storage and crafting supplies too. They are wonderful for holding small items. I use these the most in my craft room. Would love a goodie bag. Thanks!!!

ReplyDeleteOrganizing tip: Keep all receipts! I have a cute box that sits in my office that stores all of my receipts. If I ever need to return something I know exactly where to look. Every 30-60 days I go through the box to trash what I no longer need.
I *love* ziplock products! My best organizational tip happens to use ziplock baggies. When my daughters were younger, we had a lot of jigsaw puzzles around the house. The boxes took up a lot of room, and if a stack of boxes fell (which they did), the pieces fell out and got mixed up. That meant a lot of time spent sorting every thing out.
ReplyDeleteTo organize all our puzzles, I cut the top off the first box and wrote a "1" on the back of the boxtop and on the back of every puzzle pieces. Then I put the pieces into a ziplock baggie. I did this with all the puzzles and then put all the baggies and the stack of boxtops in a large plastic box with a lid. This took up much less space, and the pieces couldn't get mixed up.

Best tip -- handle papers only one time.
ReplyDeleteI use ziplocks to organize outfits when packing for travel. You just pack an entire outfit in one bag and seal it up. We use the gi-normo bags for bulkier clothes when needed.
ReplyDeleteI put all my coupons I clip into a binder then sort them into categorizes.

ReplyDeleteI use ziploc bags in the office. I have all the paper clips in one, tacks, staples, notepads, post it notes. I have a storage container with file holders and then place the items in there put the box on the shelf and everything is where it needs to be when I need it.

ReplyDeleteI keep my coupons in the insert, I don't cut them until I need them. I check weekly for expired coupons, as the insert get thin I clip all the coupons and keep them in sorted envelopes.

If you have a lot of one thing ie DVD's, CD's. Create a spreadsheet with all the titles either alphabetically or by genre and organize you things in that same way. Keep the spreadsheet on that shelf for easy finding of your items.
ReplyDeleteOooh I'd love to win. I don't have a favorite organizing tip. I'm actually not very good at organizing at all. Isn't that awful? Thats why I really need to win!
ReplyDeleteI also just started following you in my Google Reader.
ReplyDeleteOrganizational tip for scrapbookers: To organize your supplies by theme, buy those 12X12 hard plastic cases with flip-top lids (I bought at Michael's). They go on sale a lot for 40% off and have been 50% off a few times (orginally $8.99). Label each one a certain theme - like Christmas, Spring, Vacation, Boy, Girl, Family, Love/Valentine's, etc. Then stick EVERYTHING you have of that theme in that box - paper, stickers, rub-ons, embellishments, etc. It is so nice to be able to just pick up one box when you are going to work on a layout and have everything in hand in one place!
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the diaper centerpiece on my blog. If you will click on the picture, it will make it very large. That's the best I can do for you for a closer up pic. But it might help! I'd be glad to answer any other questions you have, but it really is pretty simple to do.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Suzanne
I am not a great organizer - but I do use Ziploc constantly - for everything from storing to freezing things...
