Grocery Trip April 5th

Some of my best deals were Fiber One Yogurt for 79 cents a 4 pack; Green Giant Boxed Vegetables are 10 for $10 -I bought 6 and used 2 $1 off 3 coupons so I bought 6 boxes for $2; Quaker Mini Delights were $1.29 after $1 off coupons; Del Monte Superfruit Cups 50 cents after $1 off coupons! I also scored 6 bags of Bird's Eye Steamfresh Brown Rice for $1.94!!!!!!!!! They were on sale for 99 cents ea., and I bought 6, and used 2 $1 of 3 coupons!
Ok, so round trip including shopping time was about 2 hours and 45 minutes. I saved $96.05!!!! I "earned" $34.00 per hour and used about 1/4 tank of gas- about $7.50. I think it will be worth my time to take a trip over there and stock up once a month or so. I went alone today, but it was a nice drive to take with my husband next time, and we have family about 10 minutes from there, and you can't beat visiting the fam too! Also, gas is about 10 cents a gallon cheaper there! Check it out!!!

Score!!!! A Deal and a Surprise!
*************************************UPDATE*******************************
Today when I returned home there was a message on my answering machine from the Cashier at the Dollar Store!!! My order of 20 more boxes was in!!!!!!!!! Yeah! I went and picked them up as soon as I could. They were still in the cardboard boxes they had been shipped in! Also, they had ordered 60 boxes so would I be greedy if I went in and bought more????
I'd like to take a moment to thank the wonderful Cashier for all of her help!!! Even though I know your name- I am hesitant to publish it since this blog is read locally and wanted to be careful about your privacy-I'll hope you'll be reading this since I gave you the web address!!!! It really does pay(save) to speak up and ask for what you want folks!

Last week I posted about ActiveFrugality and I mentioned I was researching ways to make my favorite Latte at home and making it less expensive. Today I stopped by the Dollar Store to get some dried onion for homemade stuffing and as I went down the aisle guess what caught my eye? My favorite Latte for $1.00 per box- compared to $2.77 I was paying at WalMart. I made the decision to buy all 18 boxes on the shelf and I told the cashier that I cleared the shelf she said I will make a note of that for the next order. I told her I would be willing to buy 20 more or so, so I gave her my informationin case they could order more. So, I found a temporary solution to carry me over until I could a permanent one. Now, I can have Latte for about $0.16 per day instead of $0.46 per day-so I am saving $0.30 per day over the next 108 days or $32.00. It may not seem like much but it is to me!!!! So, the moral of the story is that you never know what you will find at the Dollar Store!!! I am not sure why I stopped visiting weekly to see what they had in stock.
